FILMING WEEK 1

WEEK ONE The first week of filming we forgot a tripod so the footage was very unusable. WEEK 2 We set a time and date to meet up at the location, which was tooting Bec common at 4pm. this was a perfect time for the movie and also sunset is very early during the winter which made it very convinient HOWEVER !, the rest of my group was not able to join me. so i had to bike it home in the rain :( WEEK 3 (Christmas holiday 30th) After finally setting a time and date which was suitable, we all met up at location,triangle park

WEEK 4
At the fourth week we had the majority of our filming done, however as we started the editing process we realised that we had opportunities to improve our work, for example in one of the scenes there was just a mess of dailouge from the group of friends and not one set of dialouge in that scene could be established coherenlty.

Memento

Memento (2000 Christopher Nolan )  The beginning of the movie Memento start with super imposed text over a shot over a person flapping a Polaroid photograph. but what is intriguing about this is that the picture is disappearing rather than appearing as a normal polaroid picture shoot, this is the first hint that this is abit weird.

Preliminary Task

We started out preliminary task , which was to make a short scene with the minimal length of 29s . We had to include a match on action shot and use the 180° rule in our scene .

HANNIBAL

HANNIBAL (RIDLEY SCOTT) 2001 

The misen-scene at the begingin is of this big mansion we could tell this from the big establishing shot were we could also see three characters in the shot of this large room. In the next shot there a 3 people converting, the first person to start to talk was a black gentlemen on the left sitting on a sofa  who was talking to a man a in wheel chair, we could only see the distinctive features of the man in the wheel chair but not any detail on his face. In the next shot this person start to talk then very suddenly we see a close up which shows his whole head which appears to be very disfigured, how this happened is not mentioned and reasons as how and when it happened is still unclear. the effect of this could have been to shock the audience and make them feel sick. These men a sitting quite far apart from each other, so some shots were wide shots to show the 2 men conversing but also there were close up shots when there was dialogue.
Afterwards in the next shot we see the gentlemen on the left shows mask to the guy who is very disfigured. There is emphasis made on the mask the there was an almost extreme close up which might have been done to stress the importance of this mask.

Finding a location for the movie

I went to central London to find a good location for my movie. As building are big they have a lot on impact of a film

I think this picture that i took goes well with the theme and story set of my movie.  

The Propersition

THE PROPERSITION 2005 ( JOHN HILLCOAT)

The begining of this film started with old pictures of a group poeople ( family maybe ) who are young and with every picture they get older, but then theirs  pictures of men with guns, then this leads to pictures of dead animal corpses and graves which could suggest that this group of people killed them. The music however do not fit the pictures which makes it slightly unsettleing.

Bone Collector

THE BONE COLLECTOR ( PHILLIP  NOYCE 1999 ) 

The beginning of the Bone collector starts of with a black and white picture of a man who has been murdered, and then another picture of a cop  ( Denzil Washington ), this could be because the producer want to tell a story from the pictures.

Their are lots of shots of the New York Skyline, but as its moving fast disorientating the focus of the building all that is seen is the moving lights, this could be done to emphasise the fast moving life of New York and could also be the set for the movie.

Then we see Denzil Washington walk into a tunnel at night time, going past people who are giving updates on the situation, these characters talk to him with respect, this shows that that he has superiority or dominance of these people. But he responds in an almost rude manor, of his colleges says that he will be right behind him and he responds by saying keep back until iv processed the scene.

After when he has reached to the part of the tunnel where he has to get down on his front to get into a tight space, were their is P.O.V shot which show how hard it is to maneuver is such conditions . Later in the shot he gets to a corps of a man who has been murdered( how he was murdered is still unclear which adds to the mystery), but the as he lift ups the deceased head he looks at in shock, maybe he is related to Denzil this also adds to the mystery but we don't get to gaze at his reaction for too long as a massive concrete block slab falls on him in an instant.

IDENTITY

IDENTITY 2003 ( JAMES MANGOLD)

From the beginning of the film the lighting and colour was very dark and the weather was terrible with lightning and thunder which adds to this effect.

From the very start the shots were very close, such as the close up of the drawing from the psycho killer/ murderer.
The sound at the start was of a digetic sound recording of a person, it sounds like an interview as questions were asked and answered were exchanged, their was also a phrase that was repeated tree times by the person answering the questions such as 'Dont beat around the bush doc' this repitetion ensures that the audience remembers this. As this goes on their are images of  news paper snips and  stick men with red crayon smothered over them, this could be to empasisie the blood and also giving the audience a sence of what the movie is about.

Its a Late night with heavy heavy rain and the sound of thunder is heard throughout which gives the audience a chill. there are a lot of Close up shots of the psychiatric to show hard he's been working all night and the director is emphasise this by making sure that the shot is at least 10 seconds long so that the views can get a good look at the bags under his eyes.

25th hour opening scene

25TH HOUR ( SPIKE LEE ) 

As we watched the opening scene of the 25th hour in silence as the speakers at school did not function it made me concentrate more on just the visuals a bit more than if the sound was working . At the beginning  first noticed the reckless driving of what seemed to be a fairly expensive yellow  american muscle car, i think this has been done deliberately to gain the attention of the audience.

Then we see this low angle shot of a mysterious fellow who come out of his car ( i presumed it was his as he came out of the drivers side) and walk up to a dog that looked very badly injured, lying in a heap of waste. Then we see the first glimpse of this character as he looks down at the dog, the angle of the camera at this point was low down worms eyes view facing up at this figure, this could have been done to show that the dog is in an inferior position giving this character a sort of power over this poor, homeless dog.
